Little Liz

Liz is our newest family member. She is a German Shorthaired Pointer, and she is the cutest little thing! She's so sweet... except for when she decides to use your arm for a teething toy! Tomorrow she will officially be 49 days old, so she'll begin her gun dog training. I think she's going to be a great hunter, but an even greater pet!

Scary Bugs!

We have a few small pumpkins on the front porch, and these scary looking bugs showed up and took over the pumpkins. I'm not sure what they are, and I've been doing research. I can't find anything like them anywhere. Anybody got a clue?
The one on the far left is a lot paler, almost a pink-ish color. I think it may be the "queen", but I'm not sure. She kind of reminds me of a shrimp!

The Praying Mantis

Maybe it's just me, but the praying mantis has got to be one of the all time creepiest bugs. The way they cock their head to the most severe angles, the way they do that weird walk/wobble back and forth... they just kind of freak me out! This evening my husband and I were trimming the bushes in front of the house, and I came across a praying mantis. I decided to do an impromptu session with it. It was great at first, but then towards the end it started doing some weird karate-like stances, and it proceeded to LUNGE at (and land on) my camera lens! I screamed like a baby and ran. Like I said, these things are creepy...
